he future of Punjabi Cinema will be more bright if Pakistan Government lifts the ban to screening of the movies of Indian Producers in the theatres of Pakistan.
These views were expressed by Harbhajan Mann, a Punjabi singer and actor, while interacting with media persons during the promotion of his 4th Punjabi film " Miti Wajan Mardi".
He said that he has foreseen the dazzling future of Punjabi cinema despite the restrictions. He said that if Punjabi language is popular in Pakistani Punjab and Indian Punjab. Besides this Punjabi is second largest language speaking after English in UK and many punjabies have settled in 112 countries all over the world, he added.
The profitability certainly not the criteria for making Punjabi films but the cost should be matched with the returns, said Mann. He said that majority of Bollywood was captured by Punjabies but they have not performed their duty for their Mother tongue.
Mann also criticised Punjab Government and said that when we have been producing films we have to approach Government every time for the relaxation of entertainment tax. In south and others states the picture was much different the state governments have given full tax relief to the language films.
Regarding his new film 'Mitti Wajan Mardi' he said that it will be released on Sep 14 in 14 countries simultaneously.
An Indian Australian girl Japji Khaira who won the Miss World Punjaban title in Australia last year is the heroine of the film.
